Dr. Ernest Mulaya works as a lecturer at the University of Dar es Salaam, School of Mines and Geosciences in Tanzania. His is a field based structural geologist who operates as a consultant and academician in a domain of mineral exploration, petroleum (oil and gas), helium gas and Geohazards with more than 10 years of experience. He has previously worked as exploration geologist in the International Mining companies including Barrick Gold Corporation (Canadian company). Ernest has worked as principal consultant to several multinational gas companies in the world including UK, Australia and Canada. He has recently been a lead consultant and in-charge of seismic acquisition programme to Noble Helium LTD (Australian company, NHE:NSX) and Rocket Tanzania LTD operating in Tanzania. Ernest has participated in mega – research projects in oil and gas funded by European Union (EU) in collaboration with university of Aberdeen. Between 2019 to 202, he has worked in a research team of Durham and Oxford University, a team that has developed and successfully tested a novel model for helium exploration, delivering the first new helium province in decades. He has also recently participated in the government team of experts under the Prime Minister’s office to study on the cause of mudslides in the Hanang District. Ernest has been a member of various national and international professional organizations including Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Tanzania Geological Society (TGS), Geolocal Society of London, Durham Structural Geology Group and Durham Energy Institute (DEI) in the UK
