Petro Sauti Magai is a Senior Lecturer and Trade Expert, holding a Ph.D. in International Trade and Economics from Dong-A University in South Korea. His professional expertise is grounded in both theoretical and practical competence in trade economics and business management, gained through extensive experience with institutions such as United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the World Trade Organization (WTO) - Geneva, Switzerland, and HTW Berlin - University of Applied Sciences, where he serves as a visiting scholar. Magai is currently recognized by the International Trade Center (ITC) as a Certified Trainer in ITC market analysis tools, including Trade Map and Market Access Map. He has substantial experience in research, training, and consulting, specializing in international trade, urban economics, foreign direct investment (FDI), project planning and management, as well as public policy analysis and advocacy. With over 15 years of teaching experience at the University of Dar es Salaam, Magai’s scholarly work has been published in refereed journals such as the Journal of Development Southern Africa, Business Management Review Journal, Cogent Economics & Finance, Cogent Business & Management, and in the working paper series Money, Finance, Trade and Development. In addition to his trade expertise, Magai is also a qualified Town Planner with a Bachelor's degree in Urban and Regional Planning (B.Sc. URP) from the then University College of Lands and Architectural Studies (UCLAS) of the University of Dar es Salaam. He is proficient in various computer applications, including GIS, IBM SPSS Statistics 19, STATA, and E-Views9.
Research interests include international trade dynamics, urban economics, and the role of foreign direct investment (FDI) in economic development. Additionally, I focus on project planning and management, as well as the intersection of trade policy, regional integration, and market access in shaping global and local economic outcomes.
