Current Summarised CV: | Ms Shadia Kilwanila’s research program involves exploring and understanding the population ecology, genetic structure and threats to populations of the greater African cane rats (Thryonomys swinderianus) inhabiting isolated and fragmented habitats in the Eastern Arc Mountains in Tanzania. It includes investigations on the genetic diversity of the species in these isolated and fragmented habitats, maternal lineages in comparison to spatially isolated populations occurring in West Africa, geometric – morphometric variations in skull structure within and between populations and potential strategies for conservation of the species in Africa. She has wide experience in biodiversity conservation studies, especially in areas that are being developed for industrialization or/and mining activities and infrastructure development. |
