The final of the 2nd Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and Award Ceremony of the University of Dar es Salaam was successfully concluded at Nkrumah Hall on May 8, local time. The competition was jointly organized by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center of Dar es Salaam University and Confucius Institute of Dar es Salaam University. Prof. Kitila Mkumbo, Minister of Industry and Trade of Tanzania, Prof. William A.L. Anangisye, Chancellor of the University of Dar es Salaam, Prof. Bernadeta killian, Vice Chancellor of the University of Dar es Salaam and representatives of the Confucius Institute of the University of Dar es Salaam Wang Chao (Shariph Rashid Matumbi) and others attended the competition.
In his speech, Prof. Ketira Mukubo firstly thanked the Confucius Institute of Dar es Salaam University for its great support to this competition. Then, He elaborated on the educational and training objectives of the university and the importance of the competition, and that the University of Dar es Salaam will continue to deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education and accelerate the cultivation of innovative talents. He encouraged students to use their knowledge to be innovative and entrepreneurial, to be a person who can provide employment opportunities instead of waiting for them, and hoped that the competition would further improve students' innovation spirit, entrepreneurial awareness and entrepreneurial ability.
During the competition
Wang Chao, a representative of Confucius Institute of Dar es Salaam University, said in his speech that "innovation and entrepreneurship" are very important for life and work. For example, in China, some young people have invented a lot of machines for agricultural production, which greatly facilitates local farmers. We should also improve our own awareness and ability of innovation and entrepreneurship, so as to bring convenience to people's life and work, and also to solve our own employment problems. Through this competition, Confucius Institute hopes to give everyone a platform to showcase their talents. In the future, Confucius Institute will also continue to support the University of Dar es Salaam to cultivate innovative and entrepreneurial talents. Finally, he welcomed all students to come to the Confucius Institute to learn Chinese and participate in cultural activities.
Since the competition was launched, teams from all colleges have enthusiastically applied, with more than one hundred teams participating in various fields such as biology, energy conservation and environmental protection, agriculture, and information technology. In order to improve the comprehensive quality of each innovation and entrepreneurship team, the organizing committee of the competition invited senior entrepreneurship mentors to train the participating teams. After the initial team registration, pre-selection and semi-finals, a total of 10 teams were selected and advanced to the final round.

In the final round, the participating teams presented and defended their projects in terms of market research, operation mode, development strategy, innovation and feasibility. Finally, after a comprehensive, strict and fair evaluation by the jury, three teams, Dream Chaser, Zero Carbon Biotechnology and Biochar Technology Organization, won the first, second and third prizes respectively. The awarding guests congratulated the winning teams and presented them with the awards.
