RESEARCH FACILITIES

The institute has the necessary basic field and laboratory equipment for conducting training and research in marine sciences. 

COMPUTER AND OTHER FACILITIES

In addition to laboratory and field equipment, the Institute also possesses pertinent facilities for implementation of academic programmes. The Institute      has modern teaching facilities including a computer laboratory, library and Information and Communication Technology installations. The institute supports postgraduate studies through the Sida-Bilateral Marine Science Programme. Some students are also recruited through other project funding.

INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT)

This is a unit that is responsible for Library and ICT related activities, GIS, the Tanzania National Oceanographic Data Centre (TzNODC) and the Marine Education Extension Development (MEED) unit. The library holdings include standard marine science textbooks, scientific journals and manuals as well as online subscription for journal and text books. The TzNODC is responsible for the collection of oceanographic data throughout the country, storing and disseminating information to all national users. The MEED unit is responsible for audio-visual dissemination and integration of research findings.
