Current Summarised CV: | Dr. Mangora is Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Marine Sciences (Zanzibar) of the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. He conducts research and training on Coastal and Marine Ecology, Sustainable Utilization of Coastal and Marine Resources, specializing in mangrove ecology and management. His current research focuses on the impact of transformations of coastal ecosystems with particular emphasis on mangroves from both natural (especially climate change impacts) and anthropogenic pressures; and the impact on livelihoods of dependent communities. Dr. Mangora participates in regional and global conservation initiatives as he currently serves as a Member of IUCN Species Survival Commission Mangrove Specialist Group; Regional Secretary of the Western Indian Ocean Mangrove Network and member of the UNEP Scientific Advisory Committee on Marinelitter and Microplastics. Dr. Mangora also represented the country at the Scoping Meeting for the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report (IPCC AR6) to support contribution of Working Group (WGII).
