The University of Dar es Salaam has opened the admission window for Bachelor, Diploma, and Certificate programmes, inviting prospective students to apply and achieve their higher education and life goals at Mlimani.

In order to ensure a smooth and successful admission process, UDSM organised a Special Admission Week from 15th to 20th July 2024. This special six-day event spanned all campuses and aimed to provide step-by-step assistance to new applicants.

Dr. Joan Munissi, UDSM Acting Director of Undergraduate Studies, stressed the university's commitment to providing quality education and career guidance. "Although the application process is ongoing, we found it essential to set aside special days to educate and advise applicants on admission processes, programme selection, and respond to some frequently asked questions on this regard”.

Dr. Munissi urged applicants to visit UDSM, including the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Mlimani Campus, Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE), Mbeya College of Health and Allied Sciences (MCHAS), and the Mineral Resources Institute (MRI) in Dodoma. Other places where similar services are available include Mkwawa University College of Education (MUCE) in Iringa and the Institute of Marine Sciences (IMS) in Buyu, Zanzibar.

In all these stations, UDSM officials were placed to provide all the applicants with the necessary help including getting the required information about programmes as well as immediate application assistance, said Dr. Munissi.

Applicants, parents, and stakeholders received services and advice from admission experts in all the respective areas, especially at Maisara grounds in Zanzibar where the Higher Education Exhibitions were being held. The application process will continue until the first admission window closes on 10th August, 2024.

In order to ease the admission process, Dr. Munissi emphasised that all applications are processed through the University of Dar es Salaam Online Admission System (UDSM-OLAS) at www.udsm.admission.ac.tz

“The application fee is ten thousand Tanzanian shillings for Tanzanians, which is payable through banks or mobile payment systems such as M-Pesa, Tigo-Pesa, Halopesa, T-pesa, and Airtel-Money after obtaining a control number. International applicants can complete the application process without an initial fee but would be required to pay 10 USD upon registration”, she said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Dotto Paul Kuhenga, Head of the Communication and Marketing Unit at UDSM, highlighted the direct support and quality of services offered in the respective locations. “This special week has been a unique opportunity for applicants to receive direct assistance in applying for admission at UDSM, including guidance on online registration”.

Dr. Kuhenga noted that, "it is very important to obtain accurate information from the right sources. We have provided all essential information in our website, www.udsm.ac.tz, and on UDSM's official social media networks, including X, Instagram, and Facebook. There is also contact information such as phone numbers available at all times”.
