In efforts to set apt plans and align with government directives, the Directorate of Planning, Development and Investment (DPDI) of the University of Dar es Salaam has conducted a series of working sessions to various University units for preparation of the institution’s budget for the financial year 2024/2025 through the new Planning and Budgeting System (PLANREP).
In the opening of the three sessions which were held for three days each to participants, Prof. Siasa Issa Mzenzi, the Director of Planning, Development, and Investment, offered valuable guidance to participants in the process and urged them to thoroughly prepare the budget while adhering to instructions and guidelines set forth by the facilitators.
“This process is very important for it also offers an opportunity for learning from the challenges encountered in the previous budget cycle. These challenges should serve as lessons that contribute to the successful and effective preparation of the incoming budget”, said Prof. Mzenzi.
He stressed on the significance of the budget preparation exercise and thus a specific area was allocated for the participants to carry out their work diligently. He also emphasised on the importance of meeting deadlines and urged participants to complete the data loading process into the system by the end of January 2024.
The working sessions aimed to enhance the skills and understanding of the participants in utilising the PLANREP system for budget preparation to ensure compliance with government regulations and foster effective financial planning at the University of Dar es Salaam.
The government has mandated that all institutional budgets for government entities be processed through the Planning and Budgeting System (PLANREP).
