Current Summarised CV: | Mr. Barnabas Alphonce Tarimo (joined the Institute in 2016), is assistant lecturer at the Institute of Marine Sciences of the University of Dar es Salaam. He holds a Bsc In Aquaculture from Sokoine university and MSc in Marine Sciences, specialized in Marine and Coastal Resources Management and conservation from Institute of Marine Sciences. Currently, Mr Tarimo is pursuing his PhD studies at the Department of Ecology and Environmental sciences, Stockholm University (Sweden) focusing in Marine ecology with a research title “Drivers of fish larvae in mangroves-seagrass seascapes”. Before joining the Institute, Mr Tarimo was a Fisheries Officer and head of Fisheries section at Local Government Authorities where he was highly involved in fish farming projects using earthen ponds, concreate tanks, reservoirs -and management of wild fisheries. Previously, Mr Tarimo worked as a secondary school teacher teaching both biology, chemistry, agricultural sciences and a head of science section. He is interested in Ecology of marine ecosystem, particularly the relationship between fish and their environment, general fisheries science and management, aquaculture, life history of fishes, conservation and policy. In pursuing these interests, Tarimo has learned, developed and applied both qualitative and quantitative methodologies of field research, scientific writing, extension activities, reading, teaching, travelling, intertidal walk, and research cruises onboard.
