Current Summarised CV: | Clement is a Lecturer (Medical Parasitology/Entomology/Ecological Modelling/Communicable Diseases Control) currently working with the University of Dar es salaam, Mbeya College of Health and Allied Sciences (UDSM-MCHAS) since April 2019. He was previously working as a Senior Research Scientist with the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR), Tukuyu Research Centre since 2002, initially as entomologist under Tukuyu Onchocerciasis Elimination Project funded by the World Health Organization (WHO). Clement is also Honorary Lecturer at the Department of Parasitology and Medical Entomology, Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS). Clement is the Founder of Vector-Borne Diseases Modelling Network (VBDModNet - https://vbdmodelling.org). He is a Part-time Lecturer in the School of Life Sciences and Bioengineering at the Nelson Mandela African Institute of Science and Technology (NM-AIST), Arusha, Tanzania. Clement’s research experience and current projects are based on use of ecological models to predict the distribution of epidemic risk for vector-borne diseases such as Dengue and Rift Valley Fever (RVF). This research extends the existing application in ecology to map the current and future impact of climate change on emerging risk areas for vector-borne disease epidemics. Further research includes simulation modelling of disease vectors population dynamics to associate with epidemics, and the use of advanced software packages to guide public health decision-making. Future plans are to improve these projects work, incorporate advanced machine learning tools and extend them to other Sub-saharan Africa countries such as Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Malawi, Zambia and Mozambiques under the umbrella of VBDModNet. Clement has produced more than 16 publications in peer reviewed international journals https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=va5mbaIAAAAJ&hl=en |
