Iman Yangaza is an academician and researcher with a strong molecular biology and biotechnology foundation, holding a Bachelor's degree (1st Class Honours) and a Master’s degree in Climate Change and Sustainable Development from the University of Dar es Salaam. Since 2016, he has served as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Botany at the University of Dar es Salaam, following an earlier role as a Tutorial Assistant. In addition to his teaching duties, Iman has been actively involved in various academic roles, including serving as the Departmental Timetable Coordinator from 2015 to 2020. His commitment to advancing plant biology is further demonstrated by his membership in the American Society of Plant Biology and ongoing participation in the University of Dar es Salaam Academic Assembly.

Iman has received several prestigious awards, including the 2022 Plant Cell Atlas Travel Award from the Carnegie Institution for Science, a Certificate of Award from the American Society of Plant Biology-African Researchers Network, and a Certificate of Award from Bio-innovation for Africa from JR Biotek Foundation. He has also secured multiple competitive research grants, reflecting his active engagement in research that addresses critical issues such as the impacts of climate change on biodiversity and food security.
