Dr. Janeth Elias Kalinga is a Lecturer in the Department of Educational Psychology and Curriculum Studies at Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE). She joined DUCE as a Tutorial Assistant, in August 2006 with a Bachelor of Education in Arts (B. Ed. Arts) of the University of Dar es Salaam. In 2008, she was promoted to Assistant Lecturer after successfully completion of Masters of Arts in Education (MA. Ed) of the University of Dar es Salaam. She studied Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the School of Education of the University of Dar-es Salaam and successfully defended her thesis on 20 th January, 2021 waiting for official graduation on May, 2021. Dr. Kalinga’s PhD project was on “The Influence of Home Literacy Practices on Children’s Acquisition of Emergent Literacy in Two Maasai Families in Tanzania”. Her research interest is on emergent literacy, literacy development, family education, early childhood, language and literacy development and curriculum development.
