Naswibu A. Kasimu is an assistant lecturer of petroleum chemistry. He joined the University of Dar es Salaam as an academic staff member of the Chemistry Department in 2015. He graduated with bachelor of science with education from the University of Dar es Salaam and a Masters in Oil and Gas Chemistry from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, UK. Currently, he is a PhD student registered at China University of Geoscience. His research is focusing on oilfield well cement formulation.  

Aside from that, he has been working with researchers from the University of Dar es Salaam and from other countries to develop multidisciplinary research proposals focusing on petroleum and bioenergy resources. He has won one fund with research teammates from the University of Dar es Salaam. Furthermore, Mr. Kasimu co-authored several submitted manuscripts and published papers focusing on oil well cement formulation, drilling mud formulation, enhanced oil recovery (EOR), petroleum waste treatments and disposal, and biofuel production. The key interest of his research is based on the utilization of local materials such as clays and agricultural wastes to produce safe materials and chemicals for energy industries. Therefore, the target is to replace non-environmentally friendly and costly materials and chemicals so as to address the solutions for global climate change and the energy crisis.
