Dr. Nyatwere Donasian Mganga is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Botany, College of Natural and Applied Sciences of the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. Dr. Mganga holds a doctorate in Botany from the University of Dar es Salaam. Also, she studied Master of Science (Botany) from University of Dar es Salaam. Before joining Master’s programme, she studied Bachelor of Science with Education Programme majoring in Chemistry and Biology. Dr. Mganga teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses related to ecology and plant physiology. She is a Botanist interested in phytoremediation, plant ecology and forest biology. Dr. Mganga is an expert in establishing ecological relationships between heavy metal pollutants and plant species. She has managed to identify several plant species that are useful in cleaning heavy metal-polluted environments. Also, she has researched extensively on species-specific allometric models and the impact of wildfires on carbon sequestration in vegetation and soils. Nevertheless, Dr. Mganga is an experienced biology and chemistry teacher at secondary-level education.
