Current Summarised CV: | Rashid Omari Ismail is working at the Institute of Marine Sciences (IMS), University of Dar es Salaam as Assistant Lecturer. He did his BSc. in Aquatic Environmental Sciences and Conservation at the University of Dar es Salaam and graduated in 2011. He is holding MSc. in Botany from the University of Dar es Salaam since 2017. Currently, he is pursuing PhD in Plant physiology at Stockholm University, Sweden. He had a wide experience in research and marine science, as his research interest includes: Seagrass Physiology and Ecology, Mangroves Biology, Blue carbon research, Sea-Landscape Ecology, Climate change, Ocean acidification and Coastal Ecosystems function. In 2016 and 2018, he was involved in the UNEP/GEF Blue forest and IUCN projects aimed at assessing the effects of mangroves degradation on carbon storage and blue carbon stocks in the WIO region, respectively. His future research is to identify blue carbon hotspots in Tanzania and propose crucial conservation measures as we step on Carbon Trading and Blue Economy issues.
