He holds a Ph.D. degree in Zoology. His main duties as a lecturer include teaching and supervision of both undergraduate and postgraduate students. He serves other duties including conducting research and consultant services in his area of specialization. His major area of specialization includes biodiversity inventory, biology, ecology and conservation of amphibians and reptiles. One of the areas he is working on is captive breeding, reintroduction and monitoring of an extinct in the wild Tanzanian amphibian species Kihansi spray toad Nectophrynoides asperginis. The efforts aimed at conserving the toad from extinction. He has participated in the assessment of impacts of initiated projects such as gold mines, electricity transmission lines and standard gauge railway projects to the environment by conducting baseline surveys of vertebrates. Other duties he has served include coordination of field oriented practical training at the College of Natural and Applied Sciences, University of Dar es Salaam.
