We are a communication-focused Centre excelling in the communication discipline. We are dedicated to training and producing graduates and trainees capable of competing in various communication areas such as public relations, corporate communication, marketing and others.  In addition to focusing on academic excellence, the Center also offers several programmes to the general public through different institutions, organisations, and companies to ensure communication is at its best in our societies for sustainable development. Our programmes are geared to produce competent professionals who can compete in the marketplace and demonstrate professionalism in preparation and dissemination of information in daily activities, research and other multidisciplinary projects. 

The Centre for Communication Studies (CCS) offers Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies programme (B.A.CS) aimed at preparing a competent workforce in the communication sector. Graduates from this programme will work as communication officers in public and private institutions in our country and beyond. The Centre also offers four university-wide communication skills courses to first year students of the University of Dar es Salaam enrolled in different programmes in different campus Colleges, namely Natural Sciences, Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences. The Centre also organizes tailor-made trainings and workshops on a number of areas in communication and writing skills offered to the public groups, for example media presenters, administrative staff, secretaries, communication officers, etc. This is largely done on a consultancy basis.
