In a gesture of support of empowerment of women and girls through education, the University of Dar es Salaam has donated 20 tables and 20 chairs to Sasamani Foundation for their sponsored students computer lab.
The generous donation, aimed to create a conducive learning environment and enhance the educational journey of the students at the foundation, was handled by UDSM at the Foundation’s office in Bagamoyo town, Coast region, recently.
Dr. Dotto Paul Kuhenga, UDSM Head of Communication and Marketing Unit who represented the Vice Chancellor, Prof. William A. L. Anangisye, expressed the University's admiration for the commendable work undertaken by the Sasamani Foundation. He emphasized the importance of providing resources to positively impact the educational experience of the students.
"We recognise the importance of creating a conducive learning environment, and we believe that providing these resources will further enhance their educational journey," remarked Dr. Kuhenga. He commended the Sasamani Foundation for their dedication to empowering the youth in the community and expressed the University's honour in being part of this transformative journey.
The Sasamani Foundation, based in Bagamoyo, Coast region, focuses on empowering women and girls through education and employment opportunities. Ms. Neema Harold Mmbando, Foundation’s Country Director, Tanzania, and Women Leading Change Director, welcomed the support from the University of Dar es Salaam and stressed on the positive impact this donation would have on the students.
“We are truly grateful for the University of Dar es Salaam's generous donation of tables and chairs. This will significantly contribute to creating a conducive learning environment for our students”, said Ms. Mmbando.
Strengthening collaboration between UDSM and Sasamani
Meanwhile, the Communication and Marketing Unit (CMU) team from the University of Dar es Salaam visited the Sasamani Foundation's office and classes in Bagamoyo to strengthen collaboration and discuss logistics, timelines, and additional details related to the donation.
In this visit, Mr. Ally Mambele, the Marketing Officer at CMU, who worked closely with the Sasamani Foundation to ensure a seamless collaboration with UDSM, encouraged students supported at the Foundation to consider joining UDSM for their higher learning education as the best higher learning institution to study at.
The Foundation's Director of Education, Ms. Gladness Goodluck Kulola, expressed enthusiasm about the positive impact the collaboration would have on the education initiatives at Sasamani Foundation.
The University of Dar es Salaam looks forward to supporting the Sasamani Foundation in their mission to empower the youth in the community through education and employment opportunities. This collaborative effort reflects a shared commitment to creating positive change in society.
