Research and Publication Unit (RANDP) Profile
The Research and Publication Unit (RANDP) at the University of Dar es Salaam Business School (UDBS) plays a crucial role in promoting and facilitating research and publication activities within the institution. The Unit is dedicated to fostering a vibrant research culture and enhancing the academic profile of UDBS by supporting faculty members, researchers, and students in the pursuit of scholarly excellence.
RANDP is led by Dr. Renger Kanan, an accomplished researcher with extensive experience in the fields of supply chain and logistics. He is supported by Dr. Said Suluo, a researcher in accounting, taxation, fraud investigation, governance and sustainability who brings a wealth of expertise in research coordination and publication management.
The Research and Publication Unit at UDBS is responsible for the following activities:
- Coordinating and overseeing research activities: The RANDP ensures that research projects are conducted in line with the School's strategic priorities and adhere to the highest ethical and academic standards. It also supports the development of research proposals and helps secure funding from internal and external sources.
- Facilitating publications: The RANDP offers guidance and support to faculty members and students in the preparation and submission of research papers, book chapters, and other scholarly outputs. It also maintains a repository of UDBS publications to enhance visibility and promote knowledge dissemination.
- Organizing research events: The RANDP plays an active role in organizing and hosting research seminars, workshops, and conferences that provide a platform for faculty members, students, and visiting scholars to share their research findings and engage in intellectual discourse.
- Capacity building: The RANDP is committed to strengthening the research capacity of UDBS by offering training programs and mentorship opportunities to faculty members and students, with a special focus on emerging researchers and junior staff.
- Managing the Business Management Review: The RANDP oversees the publication of the Business Management Review (BMR), a biannual peer-reviewed journal that showcases high-quality research in the fields of business and management. The BMR serves as a vital platform for the dissemination of knowledge and contributes to the reputation of UDBS as a leading institution for research and scholarship.
