The University of Dar es Salaam School of Economics (UDSOE), in partnership with the Norwegian School of Life Sciences (NMBU) and Makerere University Business School (MUBS) are implementing a capacity building project in Energy Economics, Governance and Research Competence Building under NORAD. This is a five-year project that started in 2021.

NORHED II Project is conducting a week-long coordination meeting at the UDSOE from 16th January, 2023 to 22nd January, 2023. The meeting is attended by the implementing partners from NMBU, MUBS and UDSOE.

During the coordination meeting, the participating teams discuss progress on commissioned research on energy access and energy choices in rural and urban Tanzania, the Leave No One Behind Initiative (LNOBI) progress report, Curriculum Development on Bachelor of Arts in Energy Economics, Masters of Arts in Energy Economics and PhD in Energy Economics.
Apart from the research related activities, the visiting partner teams discuss with the Masters of Arts in Economics and Masters of Arts in Applied Economics students on the potential areas of research in Energy Economics and opportunities to participate in the ongoing thematic research themes under NORHED II.
In addition, Prof. Olvar Begland, Professor of Economics from the Norwegian School of Life Sciences will provide a special lecture on Quantitative Methods on Optimal Estimation of Electricity employing the Kuhn Tucker Approach. Also, he will teach a topic in EC 662 on Static Optimization for a class of about 40 Masters students on 18th Jan 2023.

During the session on the potential areas of research in energy economics, Prof. Olvar was accompanied by Dr. Livingstone Senyonga, from the Makerere University Business School (MUBS), Dr. Stephen Kirama, Deputy NORHED II Project Coordinator and Ms. Liyau Ally, graduate student at UDSOE.

The coordination meeting is conducted jointly by the participating universities. In 2022 , the meeting was hosted by MUBS, and next year, it will be conducted at NMBU, Norway.
