Robert is a lecturer of the University of Dar es Salaam in the department of Medical Parasitology and Entomology at Mbeya College of Health and Allied Sciences (MCHAS) since June 2019. His responsibilities at the department are to providing lectures to undergraduate students taking Doctor of Medicine trainings and postgraduates as well as carrying out research on health-related topics in line with National and Global Health Research agenda. Formerly Principal Research Scientist I and Head of Amani Hill Research Station of the Amani Medical Research Centre where he worked for over 31 years (Aug 1988- May 2019). He has extensively been working on malaria and bancroftian filariasis researches in the country with substantial experience in fieldwork covering parasitological and entomological studies especially in appropriate technologies for vector control, vector ecology, insecticide resistance, molecular entomology, and in vivo and vitro evaluation of antimalaria drug efficacy.

Robert has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers in local and international journals on a multidisciplinary range of subjects including antimalaria drug resistance, mosquito vector control, ecology and biology, epidemiology and molecular entomology. He has been frequently providing technical consultations across National Institute for Medical Research Centers and to the Ministry of Health through National Malaria Control Program in Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar on issues related to programmatic malaria vector control planning and implementation. Robert has been providing global technical services to the World Health Organization Pesticide Evaluation Scheme (WHOPES) and Industries manufacturing innovative vector control interventional tools against mosquitoes.

Robert has provided field supervisions to several MSc and PhD students registered in local and Overseas Universities.
