The aim of the Degree Programme is to provide opportunity for multi-disciplinary study of development to produce competent graduates with holistic knowledge and skills. Graduates of the programme will readily find market in the development industry in the areas of development planning, development policy analysis, management of development projects and programmes, monitoring and evaluation, and community development. Potential employers include central and local governments, government agencies, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector. This degree programme also prepares graduates for self-employment and postgraduate studies.
Students pursuing Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies (BA DS), must take at least 60 credits and at most 72 credits per semester. This means that a student must take a minimum of 120 credits and a maximum of 144 credits per year. For a three-year programme a student will be conferred a degree if he/she has attained from prescribed courses at least 360 credits and maximum 432 credits.
