1. Improving access to quality of care for Mothers and Children in Tanzania (2015-2020) - is part of the Innovating for Maternal and Child Health in Africa (IMCHA) programme supported by a joint initiative of three Canadian government agencies, namely; the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada (DFATD) and Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC). The research project seeks to improve maternal, newborn, and child health outcomes by strengthening health systems to become more equitable, using primary health care as an entry point. The project is implemented by Institute of Development Studies (IDS) University of Dar es Salaam in partnership with Iringa Region (Health Department) and Healthbridge Foundation of Canada. The total budget for the project is Canadian Dollar (CAD) 777,300.

2. Legitimation of the post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals: The cases of Tanzania, Ghana and Sweden

This project examines how the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are integrated into national policy.  We are interested in how the SDGs are perceived by and integrated by different stakeholders, as the legitimacy of the SDGs will influence implementation. Due to contextual circumstances, the project has a comparative approach including Tanzania, Ghana and Sweden. The principal investigator is Associate Professor Kristina Jönsson, Lund University, Sweden. In Tanzania we collaborators are Professor Peter Kamuzora and Mr. Vedasto Hamza from the Institute of Development of Studies, University of Dar es Salaam. The project is funded by the Swedish Research Council – Vetenskapsrådet and Formas (2017-2019). The budget for IDS is $ 11,200.
