Current Summarised CV: | Mr. Katto is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Anthropology at the University of Alberta, Canada. He is also an Assistant lecturer at the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (on study leave). Katto’s area of interest is Archaeology, Cultural Heritage and Development; People's Culture and Development; Pan-Africanism and Development. He has participated in various number of big research projects including the Iringa Region Archaeological Project (IRAP) where his Ph.D. is derived. While at the University of Dar es Salaam Katto has participated in a number of activities including organizing the renowned intellectual festival namely the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Professorial Chair in Pan-African Studies of the University of Dar es Salaam. At the University of Alberta, since September 2018 Katto has been working as a Teaching Assistant as well as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Department of Anthropology. He has won various awards such as Graduate Student Engagement Scholarship, Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship (AGES), The British Institute in Eastern Africa (BIEA) Thematic Research Grant; Graduate Research Assistantship Fellowship, University of Alberta; Bryan-Gruhn Graduate Research Award; The Department of Anthropology, University of Alberta/Clifford H. Skitch Travel, Graduate Student Travel Award; Graduate Research Assistantship funded by Pamela Willoughby’s SSHRC Insight Grant; Graduate Teaching Assistant, and the University of Alberta Recruitment Scholarship. Katto has attended various pieces of training as part of the Graduate Development Program including professional ethics. He has attended some courses including Advanced Topics in Archaeology and /or Biological Anthropology: G.I.S in the Social Sciences, Advanced Archaeological Mapping Advanced Seminar in Linguistic Anthropology, and Advanced Zooarchaeology.
