The institutes of Gender Studies (IGS) and Development Studies (IDS) are jointly implementing a project on Gender and Digitisation across Context. This six-year project is being executed under the aegis of the Norwegian Agency for Development Co-operation (NORAD) through the Norwegian Programme for Capacity Development in Higher Education and Research for Development (NORHED II). University of Agder (Norway) and Makerere University (Uganda) are other partner institutions in the project. The project aims to improve teaching of programmes in Gender Studies, support institutional-civil society engagement, enhance Gender equality, foster capacity-building on Gender-related research activities, and empower students to develop and acquire requisite skills and competencies essential in enhancing Gender Equality and Development in higher education institutions and communities.
Additionally, the project will offer full scholarships to two postgraduate students in the MA Gender Studies programme at the University of Dar es Salaam. These two-year scholarships will cover tuition fee, stipend, and research funds as per the University approved rates. Upon successful completion of their coursework, the applicants will conduct research in the following thematic areas of interest to the project:
