Introduction

The establishment: Radio Mlimani 106.5 was established in 2003 and went on air on the 25th November 2003. The radio seeks to develop local, national, regional, and international programs and services that reflect the cultures, values, events and ideas of the people it reaches and services. Mlimani FM is dedicated to fostering open and candid audience and community relationship that are built on the basis of proving knowledge and fostering understanding, trust and goodwill.

Vision

Mlimani FM vision is to create engage the public service programs that will be directly accessible to the audience on multiple media platforms, including satellite radio, the internet exceptional capabilities; to connect the audience in a way that builds the community and become a leading provider of programming that informs and inspires.

Mlimani FM seeks audience interests in expanding their horizons and perspectives; and stands to be challenged. Mlimani FM will encourage audience to share their knowledge and insights with each other and with it, resulting in enhanced value and quality of programs and services.

Mission

The Mlimani FM mission is to encourage and nurture intellectual debates that enrich the mind and nourish the spirit through its challenging programs. It aims at improving the lives and widening the perspective of its audience so as to encourage the development of the community reached by the radio.

Mlimani FM shall value status as an exemplary independent radio that is community based, and pursue its mission with integrity and respect.

Location, coverage and Programming

Mlimani Radio is located at Kijitonyama. It covers parts of Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, and some parts of coast regions. At the initial stages is expected to cover other regions as shall be deemed necessary.

Programs

Mlimani FM emphasis is on programs related to societal problems and rebroadcasts other stations such as BBC and Deutsche Welle to enhance diversity. Briefly the programs include aspects on:

Malnutrition and other chronic and killer diseases such as malaria, TB etc

The issues mentioned above are addressed through exclusive radio interviews, discussions, documentaries, features, magazines and talk shows. Entertainment and news are also given due attention. Currently the radio runs 16 hours per day.
