The University of Dar es Salaam, through its Business School (UDBS) hosted a show on Korean Culture that was facilitated by the Korean Studies Center (KSC–UDSM) on Saturday 17th June 2023 at the UDSM’s prestigious Nkurumah Hall. The show was attended by the representatives from the Korean Studies Center, the UDSM staff, students and other members of the public.
The event that was officiated by the UDBS Dean, Dr. Latifa Mbelwa, on behalf of the University of Dar es Salaam Vice Chancellor, Prof. William Anangisye, was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the United Republic of Tanzania, His Excellency Sun Pyo Kim and the Head of Africa Korea Community Im Changsun.
Ambassador Kim commended the event because it provides a room for building cultural understandings and between the two nations, South Korea and Tanzania. The ambassador further mentioned that such events are also important for building good diplomatic relationships between countries leading to a number of development initiatives such as Mloganzila Hospital, Tanzanite bridge and build capacity for Tanzanian who are studying in Korea.
In her speech, the Dr. Mbelwa, expressed the University’s interest for more collaboration with the Republic of Korea in research and capacity building; she congratulated the Business School (UDBS) for initiating such a collaboration and on behalf of the Vice Chancellor encouraged other UDSM units to pursue the same with South Korean partners.
