The College Library was inherited from the Library of Dar es Salaam Teachers College, which was established on 27th July 1965. Since its inception, DUCE has worked hard to transform its Library to suit University culture. Notable transformations include extensions of the Library building, deployment of more qualified Library staff, procurement of new and modern Library materials and modifications of various procedures regarding management and usage of the Library.
Since its establishment, DUCE has been improving the Library infrastructures and facilities. For instance, according to the Rolling Strategic Plan (2012-2017), the sitting and reading capacity increased from 120 to 850 students after first phase of horizontal extension of the Library building. In order to comply with the international University Standard, DUCE updated the number of books and journals available in the Library. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure has been developed to enhance production of the administrative and academic publications, marketing of the institution, and established contact with local and international agencies.
