Dr. Deokary J. Matiya is a Lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences. He holds Ph.D. in Applied Zoology (University of Dar es Salaam), M.Sc. in Medical Parasitology and Entomology (Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences) and B.Sc. with Education (University of Dar es Salaam). He teaches Parasitology, Entomology, Developmental Biology, Immunology, Scientific Methods, and Zoology related courses for both undergraduate and postgraduate level. His research interest is on infectious diseases, especially in the areas of anti-parasitic drugs resistance, Vector Biology, Parasitic Diseases Control and Prevention. Also, he is interested Epidemiology of Diseases, Molecular Mechanisms of how infectious organisms interact with their host and how infectious organisms evade the immune system of their hosts.
