Dr. Felix Mkonyi is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences, Dar es salaam University College of Education - a constituent college of the University of Dar es Salaam. He holds a PhD in Life Sciences and Engineering (specializing in Biodiversity and Ecosystems Management) from the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology, Tanzania, Master of Science in Zoology and Bachelor of Science (Zoology and Wildlife Ecology) both from the University of Dar es Salaam. He is a wildlife ecologist and conservation biologist with a special passion for herpetofauna and large carnivores. Dr. Mkonyi’s research interest includes ecology, biogeography and conservation of amphibians and reptiles, large carnivore ecology, conservation and monitoring, park-people relationships, human-carnivore conflict and improving human-carnivore coexistence through conflict management. Dr. Mkonyi is an outstanding researcher who has researched and published in many international journals and provided consultancy services in his areas of speciality. He is currently teaching undergraduate courses in the field of invertebrate zoology and chordate zoology and three post graduate courses (Biostatistics; Scientific Research Methods and Biodiversity Conservation and Management).
