He holds a PhD in Education (ECE), M.A (Applied Social Psychology) and B.A.Ed. Dr. Machumu’s research interests include linking play and learning, early literacy development, curriculum development and professional development. He is currently collaborating with researchers from Michigan State University (MSU) in the US to construct a demonstration playscapes at DUCE for the purpose of training pre-service and in-service teachers from Tanzania and beyond on how use play-based pedagogy to enhance learning. Dr. Machumu is a member of the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES) and the national Association for the Education of young children based in the US.
