DUCE has recently conducted an orientation programme to undergraduate and postgraduate students. The orientation week, held from 26th October to 1st November 2024, was organized by the Office of the Dean of Students. During this period, groups of first-year students arrived at the campus to complete their registration procedures.
Speaking during the welcoming event, the Deputy Principal (Academic, Research and Consultancy), Dr. Christina Raphael encouraged students to attend classes regularly, work hard in their studies, avoid unnecessary pregnancies, and make good use of academic advisors.
After the general session, a team of officers from all faculties and departments organized themselves to ensure that first-year undergraduate and postgraduate students received a warm welcoming support and are provided with relevant instructions. To facilitate this, students were grouped by faculty, and directed to different venues. Deans and lecturers from each faculty addressed students, highlighting key issues such as course programmes, admission procedures, College regulations, character development and general university life.
Speaking to during the assembly, the Director of undergraduate studies, Dr. Hezron Onditi said during the orientation period more than 2000 undergraduate students and 200 postgraduate students were admitted, and the admission process was still in progress.
The orientation week is an extensive, one-week event designed specifically for new students. This dedicated week is aimed at familiarizing students with the university's rules and regulations, the registration process, available services, and the overall university experience. All of these contribute to building a solid foundation for their studies.
