Current Summarised CV: | Mary Zacharia Charwi is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Languages and Literature. She holds a Ph.D in the area of African Linguistics from the University of Bayreuth, Germany and M.A (Linguistics) and BA (Education 2nd Class Upper hons) from the University of Dar es Salaam. Currently, she is Assistant to the Principal at Dar es Salaam University College of Education. She teaches Swahili linguistic courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. For the past 11 years, she has been teaching courses such as: the Swahili Morphology, Swahili Syntax, Swahili Semantics, and Swahili Lexicography. Dr Charwi’s Research interest/ Consultancy and Area of specialization is Bantu Linguistics; more specific: Bantu Morphosyntax, Swahili Morphology, Swahili Syntax, Swahili Semantics and Pragmatics. Currently, she is supervising one student of Masters. Dr Charwi has published a number of articles both local and international Journals. She has submitted one Book Chapter to the Book of Morphosyntactic Variation of Bantu Languages (in publish - SOAS). Before joining to Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE), Dr Charwi spent 17 years teaching in Primary School.
