On July 15^th, 2024 the DUCE management held a courtesy meeting with a delegation from Zhejiang Normal University (ZJNU) in China. The meeting conducted at DUCE, aimed to discuss areas of academic collaboration.

The delegation from ZJNU included Prof. Huang Xiao (Dean, College of Education), Prof. Wan Xiulan (Deputy Dean, Institute of International and Comparative Education), Dr. Eilleen Xu (Director, MOFCOM Comparative Education Program), Mr. Gui Qunfeng (Director of the Laboratory, College of Education), Dr. Xiao Rui (Academic Office, College of Education), and Chen Jiayuan (International Office, College of Education).

The meeting was attended by DUCE management team including the College Principal, Prof. Stephen Maluka; the Deputy Principal (Planning, Finance and Administration), Prof. Method Samwel; the Head of the Internationalization and Convocation Unit, Dr. Kinyota Kateko, and other academic staff.

Members of the two institutions highlighted possible areas of collaboration, including joint research, science education, exchange programs, postgraduate supervision, joint resource mobilization, and Swahili teaching. Furthermore, there was an agreement on strengthening teacher education through our demonstration schools.

The visitors also paid a visit to the demonstration schools to learn more about them and presented various gifts, such as science learning materials for pupils and teachers.

In the meeting, Prof. Huang Xiao, the Dean of the Faculty of Education at ZJNU, thanked the management for their hospitality and cooperation. ZJNU has a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with UDSM, from which DUCE can also benefit.
