Dr.Florencia Evarest Kimario
Dr.Florencia Evarest Kimario is a Lecturer at the Economic Law Department .She successfully defended her Ph.D. thesis(with a Summa Cum Laude) at the University of Bayreuth, Germany on 2nd December 2021. She joined the School as an academic member of staff in November 2015. Before that, Dr.Kimario had worked with the School in different capacities since 2012. Between 2012-2013, she double-roled as an administrative assistant in the Office of the Associate Dean, Dr Tulia Ackson as well as executive assistant to the former Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Dr Asha-Rose Migiro. After she completed her LL.M studies in 2013, Dr. Kimario taught Certificate of Law classes in the capacity of Postgraduate Teaching Assistant for one year. During this time, Ms Kimario also worked with the Legal Aid Committee of the University of Dar es Salaam. She served in the committee as project officer from early 2014 to late 2016.
Dr. Kimario holds a Bachelor of Law degree (LL. B-2012) and Master of Laws degree in Migration and Refugee Law (LL. M-2013) from the University of Dar es Salaam. Her current areas of interests are on the Law of the Child, Family Law, Migration and Refugee Law, and Human Rights Law. Dr. Kimario may be contacted at florencia.kimario@gmail.com.

Coordinated and supervised implementation of a project titled ‘University-Based Legal Aid Clinics in Tanzania: Prospects in Enhancing Access to Justice’ at the Legal Aid Committee (LAC) of the University of Dar es Salaam, March 2014-August 2015. Also participated in the writing, editing and publication of the project report.
Research:
Currently pursuing doctoral research relating to child adoption law in Tanzania.
Assistance in preparation of A Situational Analysis for Review of Tanzania’s National Refugee Policy conducted by Dr Juliana Masabo, September 2015.
Participated in research to produce a fieldwork report on “Emerging Paradigms in Human-Wildlife Conflicts: Lessons from Implementing Anti-Poaching Laws in Tanzania” by Prof. H.I. Majamba, August, 2014 and;
“The State of Constitutionalism in Tanzania Mainland-2013” by Juliana Masabo (Phd), a chapter published in Thierry B. Murangira (ed), the Annual State of Constitutionalism in East Africa, Kituo cha Katiba, 2013.
