Prof. Saudin Jacob Mwakaje is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Economic Law, University of Dar es Salaam since 2002. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Dar es Salaam (2012), Master of Laws (LL.M) in Intellectual Property, Commerce and Technology, (2003) from Franklin Pierce Law Centre, University of New Hampshire, USA, Master of Laws (LL.M) (2002) and Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) (Hons) (2000) degrees from University of Dar es Salaam. His research areas are focused on legal and policy issues related to intellectual property rights and public and private investments. He has extensively advised the Government of Tanzania, regional and international organization such as the East African Community (EAC), African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), World Trade Organization (WTO), and United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). He is also an Advocate admitted to practice in Tanzania Mainland and Tanzania Zanzibar. Since December 2017 he has been serving as a Chief Corporate Counsel and Secretary to Council at the University of Dar es salaam.
